History of KBT in Yugoslavia is not long. There was couple Kerries in my country about 1964, but 80-ties there was not serious breeding.
So, to get a picture about Yugoslavian Kerry gene pool, we shall return to year 1980 and take a look on Kerries located on teritory of SFRJ (aka former Yugoslavia).
Ms. Andjela Domac (Airedale Terrier breeder from Croatia, today her name is Andjela
Ban), kennel Dandy Black&Blue, has imported one bitch Asta v.d. Herdschwand (Hippy v. Figaro x Arca of Blue Hair), and
Joze&Maria Tisu (famous poodle breeders from Slovenia) have imported one dog Kwai v. Haus Hossner (Lear zur Saliergruft x
Giocinda v. Haus Hossner). Asta was mated by Nato v. Figaro, and Casa de oro Cabriolet. There was not many puppies, specialy not
many males. Puppies were sold in "good hands", so soon there was a lot of Kerries in show rings. At the same time Mr Marusic Mladen, kennel Mirabella, from Split (Croatia) imported Badacsonyalja
Csilike (from Hungary) and Aqua Markerry (from former Czehoslovakia).
On teritory of todays Yugoslavia (SRJ) there was less Kerries, but it changes soon. Famous Dobermann breeder and FCI judge Mr Salov Laszlo, kennel od Telepa,
from Novi Sad imported a bitch Kerryhill Gracia (Gauner v. Fuchsain x Hella v. Blauen
Bergen), and Mr Madaras Tibor has imported in (unregistered) kennel Zentai,
Badacsonyalja Csitri (Atya v. Modre Trave x Hella v. Landsberg). Both females came from Hungary.
Then, from Germany, came Boy de Souvenir of Willow Park Blue (Louisburgh Suvenir x ?? v.d. Canis Burg), male imported in Beograd
by Ms Ana Ziulkovski. Two more males were imported from Germany in year 1990. One of them was from kennel v.d. Canis Burg, and he
went to Mr Sarli Kamilo from Banja Luka (Republic Srpska - Bosnia). The other one came from kennel Penny's is Nico Penny's (Paxon's Penny's Pit x
Kamaghan Prima Donna), imported by Aleksandar Milošev, from Novi Sad. In that year several females were mated by leading dogs:
Torum Jo El Ray (he was in Italy in that time), Balboa Roller Coaster and Paxon's Penny's Pit. First two dogs have mated
bitches from Mirabella kennel, and Pit has mated best Yugoslavian bitch of that time Dandy Black&Blue Baccarat (Nato v.
Figaro x Happy Dandy Black&Blue). Boy de Souvenir of Willow Park Blue has mated some bitches from Dandy Black&Blue kennel. All of puppies from this litters were sold out of todays Yugoslavia (mostly in Croatia, and few in Slovenia).
Unfortunately, then came civil war, and former Yugoslavia was falling to pieces. Kerry population in SRJ was rather small. Dog from Canis Burg kennel
imported to Banja Luka went to Italy (owner has left Bosnia during the civil war).
In this Yugoslavia (SRJ) we had first litter in year 1991 out of Atya v Modre Trave x Kerryhill Gracia, for kennel od Telepa.
Soon after that, female Badacsonyalja Hajnal (Edgy v. Herzogschloss Celle x Gitte v. Mellensee) was imported in kennel v. Alihof by Mr Istvan Ali.
Russian journalist Mr Pahomov came to Yugoslavia with his wife and Kerry male Bayard Irish Hippy (Avgur Emperor of Blue Curacao
x Lancaster O'Xandra). This gentleman and his wife have imported later Anatol v. Burg Forchtenau (Balboa Roller Coaster x Balboa Sweety Panja) from
Austria.
In first years of 20th century last decade came so called "russian wave".
Dogs of all breeds were imported (well, ok... they came more by way of things that could be good sold at black-market than regulary imported), that came from former Soviet
Union. Those dogs were mostly of realy bad quality (usually they came without pedigree, or any kind of official paper). However, there were some good, or at least not so bad, Kerries among them (for example Zelda
and Zoro out of Jantra Irish Hippy, and Rybana). In 1995. Abracadabra Irish Daffodil (Louisburgh Tur Ceatha x Abracadabra Dilly Dolly)
was imported from Hungary by Aleksandar Milošev. From 1991 we
have had several litters sired by Nico Penny's (mostly in kennels
Zentai, v. Alihof and od Telepa), one sired by Bayard Irish Hippy.
Two Nico's daughters were mated by Anatol v. Burg Forchtenau and
Boy de Souvenir of Willow Park Blue.
Popularity of Kerry Blue Terriers in Yugoslavia has still raising. In period 1990.-1995. several Kerry
Blues were shown Yugoslavia wide with succes. Year 1995. was painted (Kerry) blue. At Yugoslavian Terrier Club Show best in
show was Kerry Blue Terrier Anatol v.d. Burg Forchtenau (Balboa Roller Coaster x Balboa Sweety Panja), and Nico Penny's (Paxon's
Penny's Pit x Kamaghan Prima Donna) has had best progeny group.
Continously, in 1996. Nico Penny's was best in show at national
all breed show (that is first time that one yugoslavian Kerry won
BIS). Nico Penny's and Abracadabra Irish Daffodil (Louisburgh Tur
Ceatha x Abracadabra Dilly Dolly) were, in 1997., twice best in brace competition at the all breeds show (for first time in Yugoslavia this
title went to KBT brace).
