Vy 73, Wolfgang, DL5MAE & Alex, DL1MAJ =================================================================== SoapBox ======= LZ6T: First 3 days the conditions were good, only the last night we had very bad conditions here. In the peak of the shower we listened many stations calling us. Sorry, it was not possible to answer all at the same time. Thanks a lot to all, who called us and to the organizers. Merry Christmas and happy new year 2001. F6CRP: As usually the BCC contest is a very expected event and the activity this year was very good. Unfortunately I was not able to be on air on December 15 and I was not able to reach the 30 QSO target, that I had settled. For the first time since I participate in this contest (1996), i did not make a QSO below 2000 lpm, what demonstrates a global improvement of the performances of stations. Since IN96KE, it is rather difficult to make listen, the number of stations on the western part of Europe are very weak, this does not incite to turn antennas to us. Called but not contacted stations: LZ6T - I1DMP - DL6UAL - DH9OK - G0CUZ - DK0TU - DL0UL - PA3FOC. I put on a dedicated page many sound files of MS QSO. check at http://perso.wanadoo.fr/f6crp/denis/denisf12.htm Thank you for this very exciting contest, see you next year. Happy New Year to all. 73 Denis F6CRP IN96KE RK3AF: Thank’s for very nice MS contest. Merry X-mas & Happy New Year !!! OH5LID: Not too good shower here, for 17 qsos 16litre beer. After 2 night hopeless trying in .100 I qsyed to 144.145 and tryed simplex qsos, but also it didn't work. Last night also after 14h cq just 2 qsos. Who stole rocks? F8DO: As usual a very pleasant contest,in spite of the fact that I found the activity lower this year. Maybe due that with the wind: I saw third director of my 11 el broke down in the wind justbefore contest ... On my part maximun occured during the nigtht 13-14 December. The sigs were very good .The best were from YU7KB . As the last years all reflections came from north- east 40 to 60 degrees and it was possible to make the contest with fixed antenna. Thanks again to the committee of the MS BCC contest. It's always the best event of the year on MS. Best 73's and seeyou next year. Marius, F8DO LA0BY: Had not much time this year and conditions were poor during the few hours when I was on. 73, Stefan DJ9YE: Dear MS friends, Also in this year the MS contest gave me a lot of fun, although I had not much time to be active.... PE1HWO: Called but not wkd SP4MPB, F6CRP, LZ2KZ, hrd DL5MAE, DL4ABJ (BS), 9A2KF,NC EA7GTF; I8TWK due qrm from GM4VVX why run skeds on 105 during BCC? Remarks: nice reflections during BCC, although it had an early finish thisyear. DL8EBW: Hi dear MS-friends, was very sorry, but due to qrl reasons it was the first time since the BCC started these great activity, that I had missed it. I was one week in JO61 on qrl-trip and so the only MS I could make, was some visual observations! Anyway - wish you all a good start into the new year 2001 and if all goes ok, we will try to be on expedition in may again... kind regards, Guy DN1MA: I have to be in the multi-OP categorie as my CW knowledge is very limited. I am just 7 years old so my uncle DL5MAE had to help me to decode CW. At least I was very excited to press the knobs at the DTR and the electronic memory keyer ETM8c. It was nice to hear the sound of the meteors and the movement of the S-meter-needle over S9! DL5MAE: Nice contest again but a bit lower activity than 1999. There was a very sharp peak from the 13th of Dec 23.00 utc until 01.00 utc on the 14th of Dec. At this time most of the QSOs were made with QTF to abt 45deg. Many sidescatter QSOs at this time to East Europe. Only one G-station heard this year (G3UTS). Nice activity from East and SouthEast Europe. Also many F and LZ stations active. Scandinavia was very quiet again. Most active stations seemed to be RU1AA, EU6MS, RK3AF, LZ6T, ES2NA, YU7KB and 9A1CAL. Many thanks to all those called me! DF8IK: I had a lot of fun as every year, also my first DL - contact made no problems ... I hope to meet you next year again 9A1CAL: Very nice contest. We enjoyed working it, especialy considering SSB jungle on 144200. All QSOs were made using letter system. We didnt even bother to call stations working on 144100, but there are still some. More then 50% of time during contest .100 was covered with tropo signals in both periods, so we didnt have any other choice but to call CQ. Seems that nobody called on any other frequency. Also extended letter system was rarely used. Many QSOs, especialy near maximum, were compleeted in 3 or 4 periods. So, Zvonko suggested for next year dedicated calling frequency (lets say 144090?) for QSOs with 1 minute period. There will be no confusion and time near maximum will be much better used. YU7KB: Taking part in the eleventh MS contest, for the first time we used my call sign. Equipment and location were exactly same as last year. Reflections were surprisingly good in the first night but very rare and week in the last night. Taking into consideration contest's out of weekend schedule, we mark overall activity as good. Our CQ speed was usually 2000 LPM and we were adjusting speed in accordance to the speed of calling station. Comparing to the last year, average speed is increased as well as number of "Bad keyed" transmitters. The "best" and the "most" reflections we received from DK8ZJ. Congratulations to winners and many thanks for all those who were trying to call us. CU next year. I8TWK : Vy good condx between 13 and 14th december. Operated only that night long, I was very busy for work other days. Lacked long range qso. RU1AA: I believe that BCC MS contest is the most remarkable event in MS every year. BCC MS contest gives us good chances to work many new squares and new calls. It would be a pity if the number of participants and their activity may decrease. One might see that BCC MS contest information is not so often appear in printed editons or on web sites. This year I was lucky to get many new calls, it's a pity, I could not get a QSO with LX2DX, as I've heard his CQ, but could not get the letter. As usual there are several strong signal stations on 144.100 , which make impossible receiving weak signals from distant one's. As I can see the peak of Gemenides 2000 was on Dec 13 at 2100-2200. Then on Dec 14 at the evening reflections sharply disappeared - the conditions I could not remember for the last 7 years of Gemenides. Alex, RU1AA HB2FAP: First of all, thanks again to my very good friend Michael, HB9JAW, to give me also this year the opportunity to use his 144 MHz station! Unfortunately for me, also this year I haven’t had very much time because of too much QRL. However, 3 hours activity and 7 QSO’s, I think that’s not bad: Michael, your station works really very well! Reflections during these few hours of activity were good, always enough to have easy QSO’s. Practically all my QSO’s have been made with the antenna beaming 40-50 degrees! As usual the sidescatter during the night on Geminids worked very well! I thank you all very much for the great contest and activity and wishing all the best for the year 2001 I hope to see you again next year in the BCC Contest! Vy best 73’s de HB9FAP, Fabio EA5ZF: I only can be QRV from 20UTC throught 22-23UTC and until 23UTC at very low power levels (ITV to neightbours), the reflections not at same level how the last year at least into my working frame-time. I heard very strong and clear some stations, but with low power is not possible work them. From 23Z until my sleep time I can reach the max power of my PA and is very amazing work without sked knowing that they are some stations over EU triyng to ear something in the call QRG. I have some problems with my computer and his COM ports into the first day, and I can't finish some QSO but all is corrected in the 2nd day and working fine until the end of Contest. Many thanks for organiza the contest, see you in the next year. MerryChristmas! 73 de Javier DL1OJ: My log will be sent because of the Olympic spirit... After 1995 this is my second participation, but I am still limited by my antennas. All my station was setup provisory (that means no preamp, high speed with experimental equipment and a 9ele yagi 4 m over ground), but at least I was able to work YU7KB. Because of a thunderstorm i missed another QSO. Anyway I hope you have a lot of fun with the evaluation... YZ7UN: Nice contest with this equipment and nice score. Thank you and I hope to see you next year ! DK8ZJ: This was my first MS-activity since 1998 from my new QTH. With my new 4x12 M2 array I got shorter reflexions as with my 2x 12 antennas, that I used in the past. I´m not sure, if the reason was the shower or the antennas. At last the peak was at 13th of Dec. around 22:00 UTC, however, there were long bursts at the early morning hours of the 14th - but without activity! Signals from EU6MS, LZ2KZ, LZ6T, RU1AA, YU7KB and YU7UN were permanently present from all directions. Despite the lower activity compared to 1997, I had lot of fun. Thank to the organizers and participants ! Good luck for the new year and I hope to meet you again ! EU6MS: ...in the contests of 1998, 1999 and 2000 I had always the first QSO with DL5MAE, hi - a miracle ! HA1BC: This year the activity was not so high, but most OP´s had to work and so they had to go to bed early hi. The maximum of the shower seemed to be at the 13th around midnight. Best 73 to all ... LZ1KJ: Hello everybody and first of all, my compliments for the organization of the BCC MS contest... --- Obrada Slobodan Ilic, nov.2002.
