The Movement for the Protection of the Human Rights
A C T I V I T I E S

The Movement for Protection of Human Rights performs its activities in form of legal and other kinds of support, such as writing petitions to courts, representing of people at courts, disclosing of announcements and analyses of state of human rights to the public, holding of debates, round tables and press conferences, and publishing of books and its own newspaper called Human Rights. We have tried to be mediators in social aid through centers of social work, employers, trade unions, visits paid to patients in hospitals, and through collection and distribution of humanitarian aid.

Nowadays human rights in our country are object of disrespect more than ever, as we are witnesses of a true collapse of the state’s legal system. Recently, a war took place on the territory of former SFR Yugoslavia, which degraded the overall relations between the country’s member states and the social conditions in them. In the fast changing circumstances we tried to provide our modest contribution out of our limited possibilities. We have placed the emphasis of our activities in the framework of existing state of human rights in Serbia, and we are distinguished in this from some other organizations that deal predominantly with the human rights of other ethnical segments and/or violations of human rights in the war conditions. This is so not because we underestimate the latter types of human rights, but rather primarily because we have been responding to Serbian people’s call for help in respect of their violated rights, as well as because the other organizations are provided with larger resources.
